Dear Zuni Students,

Let me begin this blog by writing that I miss each and every one of you! I really do! But I also love living here in Turkey. I have been here for one month or thirty days today! In Turkish the word for thirty is "otuz"- (oh twos). The one thing I must share with you right away is that Turkish people are very kind. They will go out of their way to help or show you that they care about you. In future posts I will also tell you about my neighborhood- Goztepe, my city-Izmir, and the country of Turkey itself. I hope you will be as amazed as I am about where I am lucky enough to live for the next two years.

I will try to write about one post on my blog every two weeks. I will share something about my life here. Even the simplest things are sometimes different than what you and I are accustomed to seeing or doing or using. For example, most Turkish people don't eat salad dressing on their salad. They sprinkle a little lemon juice and some olive oil on top of their salads. There are many lovely differences and also many things which are the same. I still have to tell students to "WALK" in the hallway here, only now I say, "YURU"! (you roo)
